Wärtsilä Parts & Field Service is now looking for an enthusiastic Workshop Quality Supervisor to join our skilled team in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

What will you be doing?

 

This position is based on site at our Workshop in Fort Lauderdale, FL and reports to the Workshop Manager.

 

Candidates are expected to display a high level of critical thinking and reasoning skills, identify as high performers, as well as being self-motivating.

 

Accountabilities:

 

As a Quality Supervisor, you will provide technical leadership to optimize cost, quality, productivity and reliability. This includes initiating continuous improvement activities to achieve and sustain results in Quality, as well as being accountable to research, develop and implement tasks, methodologies and best practice. Typical projects would include workshop upgrades and improvements to systems that support enhancement of quality or quantity.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintaining QC framework per location (methods, procedures, competences, etc) and HSE Compliance.
  • Create quality plans as required.
  • Support and coach Workshop team in QC execution.
  • Manage non-conformity cases according to defined processes.
  • Perform analysis and inspections as required.
  • Ensure availability of proper calibrated measurement equipment and well-maintained Workshop equipment.
  • Ensure that corrections and corrective actions are defined and implemented for single notifications.
  • Run process validation and verification audits in the Workshops.
  • Drive the local OE/5S agenda in AMER workshops.
  • Ability to conduct Root Cause Analysis investigations (Apollo, 5-Y, etc).
  • Plan short term capacity and maintenance of the machines and tools together with Workshop Supervisor.
  • Keep the Workshop Manager informed of any issues well in time.
  • Strives for harmony and teamwork within the department and with all other departments.

 

Main Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical university is desired, or 5–10 years of equivalent work experience in a technical service-minded organization
  • 3-5 years of job-related experience with a technical degree and/or bachelor’s degree and some project management experience or training.
  • Proven experience in workshop quality management, preferably in a heavy equipment industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a workshop environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer literacy.
