We are now looking for Area Sales GM, Europe & Africa. This position is to be located in Europe

 

2-stroke & Other OEM Services is a growing business in Wärtsilä Marine, organised within the Parts & Field Service business unit. We are responsible for Wärtsilä 2-stroke Engine Services and Other OEM Engines service activities, and besides our traditional maintenance services and standard retrofit solutions, our organisation has a quickly growing portfolio of retrofitting technology platforms for the decarbonisation of merchant shipping.

We are looking for an energetic and customer centric sales professional to lead and develop sales in Europe and Africa, who brings continuous customer centricity to our way of working.

 

 

What you will do:

 

Your ultimate mission is to lead 2-stroke & Other OEM sales in Europe and Africa to grow order intake in a profitable way throughout the prioritised 2-stroke & Other OEM services offering portfolio. You will work in close co-operation with the entire 2-stroke & Other OEM organisation, the Marine Sales teams in the responsible Regions.

 

Your duties are, but are not limited to:

 

  • Promote available 2-Stroke and QuantiServ solutions within the Area and Regions Sales organization and directly to customers
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities, and develop and win them in close collaboration with customers and the relevant internal stakeholders
  • Occasionally act as Capture Team Leader and ensure collaboration in capture teams and involvement of relevant stakeholders at right time
  • Ensure compliance with key steps in opportunity management and sales process, and promote active usage of CRM
  • Ensure Order Intake with required Margin to achieve the Regional Sales targets
  • Closely collaborate with the global 2-Stroke Sales Support team for growth focus areas
  • Maintain Area overview of key opportunities, follow up sales pipeline with Area stakeholders and provide regular pipeline status reports
  • Promote QuantiServ products sales and work closely together with QuantiServ Product Managers and Sales organization to increase sales and profitability
  • Analyze Area and regional markets and customer needs and provide feedback to the global 2-Stroke Sales & Sales Support team
  • Co-develop new and/or customized solutions together with customers with involvement of the Product Management functions
  • Develop good understanding of customers' business drivers and what solutions add true value to their business
  • Develop good understanding of customers’ pain points and involve Sales & Sales Support functions to overcome those
  • Promote and strengthen a culture of customer centricity
  • Closely collaborate with Marine Sales Managers, Marine GM Sales in the regions but also be part of the regional Sales calls, to inform about 2-Stroke relevant topics but also new products & Solutions, but also collect their needs to grow the business
  • Work closely with Marine Newbuilding Managers, Sales Managers and WinGD together to support winning newbuilding sales in collaboration with WinGD
  • Ensure collaboration with other Business Lines in Marine, to support the 2-Stroke Product & Solution Sales resp. cross selling as such
  • Strive for Continuous Improvement and Kaizen initiatives under the Wärtsilä Continuous improvement program

 

To be an ideal candidate, you would have the following:

 

We trust you have an excellent understanding of sales activities and tools and a strong business understanding as well as a relentless drive for growing the business.

  • Bachelor or Master in economics, business administration, sales & marketing, or in Marine engineering degree
  • 5 years of sales and/or sales support experience in Services or Marine Solutions
  • Preferably experience in more complex sales activities, such as service agreement or service project sales
  • Experience in leading and coaching people, preferably in Sales
  • Strong track record in good customer relations
  • Existing network in the industry / with marine/ energy
  • Very good understanding of at least one respective industry segment and the customers’ businesses
  • Ability to establish and maintain good customer relationships on all levels (good access also on CXO levels)
  • Excellent sales and consulting skills
  • Excellent communication skills in meetings, in writing, for presentations
  • Skills to discover, advance and conclude opportunities
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Very good understanding of Sales Pipeline management in CRM
  • Ability to handle and drive several, also complex sales development activities in parallel
  • Strong in action planning, alignment of actions with stakeholders and follow up of agreed actions
  • Strong Business English verbally and in writing, preferably also at least one other European language
