We want to change the course towards an interconnected and cleaner maritime future. So, we are constantly on the lookout for future-oriented talent to join our team and work towards enabling sustainable societies with innovative technology - together. Are you ready to come on board?

Sales Manager, Decarbonisation Solutions

We are now looking for an experienced technical sales professional to join our 2-Stroke Services team. The position is permanent, and the preferred location is Frauenfeld, Switzerland, or one of the major maritime hubs globally.

What you will be doing?

In this role, you will be part of the Business Development & Sales, 2-Stroke Fuel Conversions team, responsible for helping our merchant marine customers identify and implement the most suitable decarbonisation solutions on their fleets, through comprehensive value propositions. Building these value propositions will require understanding the customer’s decarbonisation needs and working closely with our decarbonisation modelling and proposals management experts. You can also count on support from our broader 2-Stroke Services Sales team and interaction with the Sales and Business Development functions of other Wärtsilä Marine Power Business Units.

We expect you to have excellent commercial skills with strong marine business acumen, a customer-centric mindset and extensive experience in vessel performance enhancement projects.

As a Sales Manager, Decarbonisation Solutions, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Implement and continuously develop the advisory services related to the Wärtsilä 2-stroke decarbonisation solutions portfolio of engine performance upgrades and fuel conversions
  • Develop and nurture a global network of merchant marine customers with actionable decarbonisation strategies
  • Identify and evaluate commercial opportunities, develop and win them in close collaboration with external and internal decision-makers
  • Maintain an overview of opportunities related to 2-stroke decarbonisation solutions, follow up on the sales pipeline and provide regular pipeline status reports
  • Occasionally act as Capture Team Leader, ensuring collaboration in capture teams and timely input from internal stakeholders
  • Acting as a champion for 2-stroke decarbonisation solutions, train and coach the global Sales teams on the available and upcoming decarbonisation solutions
  • Working closely with the area and regional sales colleagues, collect global market decarbonisation requirements and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders in the 2-Stroke Services organisation
  • Proactively develop new ways to support our marine customers in their decarbonisation journey and contribute to continuously improving Wärtsilä’s advisory capabilities

To be successful in this role, we expect you to demonstrate:

  • A genuine passion for helping our marine customers develop and implement decarbonisation strategies to futureproof their fleets
  • A good understanding of the marine market, its stakeholders, and its dynamics
  • Strong technical knowledge in on-vessel systems and enthusiasm to follow trends in maritime emissions legislation, technology, and future fuels
  • Previous experience in marine technical sales
  • Solid understanding of customers' business drivers and eagerness to link them with Wärtsilä solutions that add true value to their operations
  • Strong collaboration skills, customer service mindset and team player with a willingness to work across organisational boundaries and directly with customers and partners
  • Strong business acumen, communication and presentation skills
  • Out of the box thinking and innovative mindset
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Relevant academic background

In this role, travel (up to 30%) may be required to meet with our customers and partners around the world, even though many of the meetings are held virtually.

Why you and us?

We at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership and taking responsibility for our work. We support each other’s growth, and co-creation is a cornerstone of our innovation. We have a passion for seeking opportunities and the courage to take the initiative.

We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe that by being your own true self, you can accomplish so much more. That is why we have built an environment that empowers you and everyone around you and where you can feel safe and cared for. Are you eager to be part of this ambition?
