Sales Development Manager, 2-Stroke Lifecycle Solutions (Agreements)

We are now looking for a Sales Development Manager to support the growth within our 2-stroke lifecycle solutions fleet of vessels.


This position is offered on a permanent basis. The primary location would be in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, but other locations within Wartsila’s Global portfolio would be considered.

What will you be doing?


As Sales Development Manager, your work will focus on these responsibilities:


•    Analyse regulations, market, competition and customer needs 
•    Maintain a global overview of 2-Stroke lifecycle solution opportunities and provide regular pipeline status reports 
•    Promote performance-based agreements towards the internal organisation, directly to customers and other stakeholders 
•    Develop a good understanding of customers' business drivers and the solutions that add value to their businesses 
•    Co-develop new and/or customised solutions together with customers and our Performance Services team
•    Identify and evaluate opportunities, develop and win them in close collaboration with customers and stakeholders, actively managing these agreements throughout the pipeline 
•    Join newbuilding sales meetings with WinGD and/or Marine Business Sales and support WinGD to win newbuild projects with the support of our lifecycle solutions offering 
•    Ensure close collaboration with WinGD Sales stakeholders and Contract Management teams, in order to initiate new opportunities during newbuilding project sales phase 
•    Ensure collaboration with Performance Services, 4-Stroke Engine Services and other Product Lines / Business Lines, if agreement scope goes beyond 2-Stroke 
•    Act as Capture Team Leader and ensure collaboration within the teams, and across relevant stakeholder networks 
•    Actively participate on Performance Services meetings and workshops 
•    Ensure compliance with key steps in agreements sales process (e.g. offer reviews, contract reviews) and usage of CRM
•    Train and coach 2-Stroke Sales resources in networks and sales champions in regions on the available and new 2-Stroke lifecycle solutions

•    Calculate, prepare and review offers, when required


The below will enable you to shine in this role:


•    Bachelor or Master degree in Economics, Business Administration or Sales & Marketing or Engineering
•    Background in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
•    Track record of growing sales, selling services and tailored solutions, preferably in Services or Marine solutions
•    Proven ability to identify new opportunities and explore them through to conclusion
•    Comfortable leading several complex sales projects in parallel
•    Comprehensive knowledge of merchant marine customers' business and the merchant marine industry
•    A demonstrable understanding of complex sales activities, such as service agreement sales, contract negotiations and service contract management
•    Good understanding of contractual, commercial and legal terms and conditions
•    Customer focused and process development attitude, with evident experiences of understanding different needs and formulating actions that meet those needs
•    Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally
•    Demonstrable team leadership, team empowerment and team building skills, coaching and developing others to create a high performing team.
•    Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Additional languages are considered an advantage
