Sales Development Senior Manager, 2-Stroke Fuel Conversions

We are now looking for a Sales Development Senior Manager to support the growth relating our 2-stroke fuel conversion projects.


This position is offered on a permanent basis. The primary location would be in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, but other locations within Wartsila’s European portfolio would be considered.

What will you be doing?


As Sales Development Senior Manager, your work will focus on these responsibilities:


•    Analyse regulations, market, competition and customer needs, especially related to IMO's decarbonisation targets 
•    Develop a good understanding of customers' business drivers and the solutions that add value to their businesses 
•    Develop and manage an active pipeline of projects by creating and nurturing opportunities, in close collaboration with customers and stakeholders 
•    Develop, promote and capture opportunities related to alternative fuel conversion projects 
•    Promote other 2-Stroke fuel efficiency and environmental solutions to customers 
•    Develop influenceable relationship with key marine industry stakeholders (incl. Financiers, Charterers, Insurances etc) 
•    Act as internal ambassador and liaison with internal organisation (Sales, 4-Stroke, Propulsion etc) 
•    Act as Capture Team Leader and ensure collaboration within the teams, and across relevant stakeholder networks 
•    Actively participate on Project Services meetings and workshops Identify opportunities for agreements with alternative fuel conversions and align with Performance Services colleagues
•    Close collaboration with the Project Management team Calculate, prepare and review offers, when required 
•    Ensure compliance with key steps in agreements sales process (e.g. offer reviews, contract reviews) and usage of CRM
•    Train and coach 2-Stroke Sales resources in networks and sales champions in regions on the available and new 2-Stroke lifecycle solutions 



The below will enable you to shine in this role:


•    Bachelor or Master degree in Economics, Business Administration or Sales & Marketing, or Engineering
•    Background in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture
•    Track record of growing sales, selling services and tailored solutions, preferably in Services or Marine solutions
•    Proven ability to identify new opportunities and explore them through to conclusion
•    Comfortable leading several complex sales projects in parallel
•    Comprehensive knowledge of merchant marine customers' business and the merchant marine industry
•    A demonstrable understanding of complex sales activities, such as project sales, service agreement sales, contract negotiations and service contract management
•    Good understanding of contractual, commercial and legal terms and conditions
•    Customer focused and process development attitude, with evident experiences of understanding different needs and formulating actions that meet those needs
•    Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally
•    Demonstrable team leadership, team empowerment and team building skills, coaching and developing others to create a high performing team.
•    Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Additional languages are considered an advantage
