Chief Accountant

Wärtsilä Voyage is a global organisation that provides best-in-class maritime navigation systems and integrated bridge solutions, recognised training and simulation solutions, vessel traffic management solutions and coastal surveillance systems, fleet and port management systems, as well as both onboard and individual decision support systems for professional crew and pilots.

 

We are now looking for an enthusiastic Chief Accountant to join our skilled Statutory Tax & Company Compliance team, looking after our Swedish legal entity Wärtsilä Voyage Sweden. The preferred location for the position is Gothenburg, Sweden.

 

What will you be doing?

 

As a Chief Accountant , your tasks will revolve around all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities. The Chief Accountant is also expected to make recommendations to the FM for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and financial reporting. Assure confidentiality of financial information.

 

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: 

  • Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of statutory, management, annual statutory accounts and other regulatory accounts.
  • Direct point of contact with the auditors (internal and external) and complete management of the annual audits for the entity
  • Ensure monthly and annual Group reporting in HFM and year end bridge calculation. Posting of IFRS results and calculation of monthly/quarterly/annual adjustments to accounts (e.g. FX revaluation, bad debt).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual accounting requirements.
  • Completion of monthly closing and IC reconciliation.
  • Ensure all general ledger accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Liaise closely with the group finance team to ensure the accounts reflect the operations of the business as efficiently as possible.
  • Responsible for preparation of the Wärtsilä Voyage Sweden company tax declaration.
  • Handle all documentation to different Authorities
  • Responsible for all VAT reporting and other tax reporting
  • Handle Chemical Tax declarations on behalf of Wärtsilä Voyage Limited and Oy
  • Responsible for the accurate posting and payment of salaries for the entity
  • Monitor the actual financial status of the projects (construction contracts) in comparison with planned figures. Identify and report projects with high risks e.g. where the payments are well overdue or the actual cost is higher than planned. Request and file quarterly confirmations from PM.
  • Deputy board member and member of the local management team
  • Send electronic invoices as well as scan any physical invoices received to Readsoft software for internal authorisation/posting
  • Manages the scrapping requests of fixed assets and stock
  • Responsible to update the rolling forecast when required during the year
  • Contact person for banks, Tax Authorities, Companies Registration Office (bolagsverket)
  • Any other ad-hoc tasks that are finance or office related
  • Bank signatory in SEB, Swedbank, RBI and ATB. Approve payments and send it to the relevant bank

 

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:

  • Qualified accountant with 5 years experience in a similar position
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and SAP
  • Fluent in English and Swedish
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Continues improvement mindset
