We are now looking for an enthusiastic Workshop Engineer to join our skilled team in Gothenburg, Sweden. The role is offered as a permanent contract. 

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

As a Workshop Engineer in Wärtsilä’s Workshop in Gothenburg, your tasks will involve repairs and overhauls of Wärtsila engine equipment and components, performing measurements and preventative maintenance, along with maintenance of tools, while ensuring that all work is executed in accordance with Wärtsilä quality, environmental, health, and safety guidelines. You will also support in identifying needs for parts and tools, to ensure that they are available when needed.

 

As an ideal candidate, you understand the mechanical principles of large 4-stroke engines and are experienced with handling tools such as valve grinding machines, seat cutting machines, or honing machines. Since you will be working in a multi-cultural environment, we hope that you speak both English and Swedish. Most importantly, you are passionate about your work, expanding your knowledge, and growing professionally.

 

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Performing repairs and overhauls on engine equipment and components, in accordance with given instructions as well as Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines, and cost targets.
  • Performing measurement and recording the data in alignment with way of working.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on all workshop machinery.
  • Maintaining measurement and workshop tools.
  • Accessing parts catalogue to identify parts needed to support overhauls or repairs of components and equipment.
  • Ensuring that the work area is kept clean and organized.
  • Continuously expanding your knowledge.

 

 

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:

 

  • BSc degree and at least 2 years of related experience or AS degree and at least 3 years of related experience, alternatively High School diploma or diploma from a Technical / Vocational school (preferably Marine, Mechanical or USCG) with minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Good understanding of the mechanical principles of large 4-stroke engines.
  • Experience with handling tools such as valve grinding machines, seat cutting machines, honing machines, or similar.
  • User level knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to take instructions from line manager and perform duties as need arises.
  • Ability to work under pressure, make decisions, and take action accordingly.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Business and customer-oriented mindset.
  • Passion for learning and professional growth.
  • Proficiency in English and Swedish languages.
