Due to a dynamically growing order intake for the retrofit packages on Wärtsilä 2-stroke main engines, together with increased interest for services offered by Wärtsilä on sustaining ship efficiency, emissions, fuel consumption, and decarbonisation, we want to strengthen our Field Service capabilities.

 

We are now looking for a Field Service Engineer 2-Stroke to strengthen our Field Service team. The role will be based in Gdansk, Poland.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

As a Field Service Engineer 2-Stroke in our Field Service team, you will be executing mechanical Field Service activities in adherence with Wärtsilä guidelines and site procedures, providing technical expertise for our customers and ensuring customer satisfaction.

 

In this exciting role, you'll have the opportunity to work internationally and travel the world for various service jobs for approximately 80 % of your working time (up to 200 days per year). Therefore, we are looking for candidates who are ready and willing to travel, who possess a strong Field Service mindset.

 

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Carrying out the mechanical, supervisory, and occasionally troubleshooting works on Sulzer, Wärtsilä, and WinGD 2-stroke main engines.
  • Performing Field Service activities related to Service Products installations for 2-stroke diesel engines on board vessels.
  • Performing mechanical and/or electrical and automation related installations of Service Products and Wärtsilä solutions for engines in service.
  • Performing technical assessment of the installations, along with pre- and final commissioning of the installed products, in accordance with Wärtsilä guidelines and site procedures.
  • On-site cooperation with teammates, managing activities during work execution.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction through positive interactions with customers and stakeholders during work execution.
  • Interaction with Field Service and Technical Service back-office during work execution.
  • Providing internal and external reports on progress, updates, and final reporting of the assigned work, in accordance with Wärtsilä standards.
  • Preparing Service Work reports along with time and expense reports in accordance with Wärtsilä standards, informing administrative personnel as required.
  • Proactively consulting, advising, and promoting available Wärtsilä solutions and products to customers.

 

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you have:

 

  • B. Sc. or M. Sc. in Engineering or similar relevant technical educational background.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with service work on installations of mechanical, electrical, and/or auxiliary equipment.
  • Experience of working with Wärtsilä products will be considered an advantage.
  • Deep understanding of the principles of operation of 2-stroke engines.
  • Good understanding of technical instructions, drawings, and schematic diagrams (e.g. pneumatic, electric systems).
  • Awareness and readiness to take up mechanical and electrical troubleshooting tasks on engines, auxiliary systems, and our service products.
  • Experience with reporting and ability to generate reports.
  • MS Office skills, along with skills in other relevant reporting tools.
  • Fluent Polish along with strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with ability to work in a multicultural environment and seamlessly collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Passion for learning and willingness to enhance knowledge in order to service our retrofit products.
  • Willingness to travel globally up to 200 days per year.
