Senior Service Engineer Mechanical

We are now looking for an enthusiastic Senior Service Engineer, Mechanical to join our skilled team. The role is offered as a permanent contract and will be based in Gdansk, Poland.

 

 

What will you be doing? 

 

As a Senior Service Engineer, Mechanical in our Field Service team, you will be executing Field Service activities in accordance with Wärtsilä quality, providing technical expertise for our customers and ensuring customer satisfaction.

 

In this role, you will be traveling for various service jobs approximately 80 % of your working time, mostly for local projects in Poland, but occasionally also internationally within Europe. Therefore, we are looking for candidates who are ready and willing to travel, with a strong Field Service mindset.

 


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 

  • Performing mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting on Wärtsilä products or similar medium bore diesel engines.
  • Engine component overhauls in workshop and on-site, including some in situ machining.
  • Troubleshooting and routine maintenance of engine products, along with component investigation.
  • Checking and adjusting relevant systems (i.e. auxiliary equipment).
  • Pre-commissioning and mechanical commissioning of engines.
  • Preparing service reports and travel expenses on time and in accordance with Wärtsilä quality.
  • Identifying failures, making adjustments, assisting on trial runs, and testing of mechanical installations according to instructions.
  • Providing internal and external work reports in accordance with Wärtsilä standards.
  • Performing site audits.
  • Collecting and organizing time and expense reports, informing administrative personnel as required.
  • Reporting executed work in accordance with Wärtsilä standards. 

 


To be successful in this role, we expect you have:
 

  • B. Sc. or M. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or similar relevant technical educational background.
  • Experience with service and/or repairs of mechanical components.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Fluency in Polish.
  • Good command of English, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Practical experience from the marine industry.
  • Excellent reporting skills, including scope changes and deviations.
