Senior Service Engineer Mechanical

We are looking for a Senior Service Engineer Mechanical to strengthen our skilled 2-Stroke Field Service team. The preferred location for this position is in Gdansk, Poland.

 

Your role and responsibilities  

 

As a Senior Service Engineer Mechanical you will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Carry out mechanical jobs and occasionally troubleshoot on board vessels with 2-stroke engines from Sulzer, Wärtsilä, and WinGD.
  • Perform Field Service activities related to Service Products installation for 2-stroke diesel engines on board vessels.
  • Perform mechanical and/or electronic & automation related installation of Service Products and Wärtsilä's solutions for engines in service.
  • Perform technical assessment of the installations and conduct pre- and final commissioning of the installed product according to the guidelines.
  • Work on site with Field Service team members, managing the service activities during the execution of the work.
  • Interact with customers during work execution.
  • Interact with Field Service and Technical Service back-office during work.
  • Submit internal and external reports for work progress status, updates, and final reports for the assigned work.
  • Prepare final Service Work Report and report travel-related expenses on time, ensuring expected Wärtsilä quality.

 

Requirements for the position  

 

  • BSc degree in Engineering and/or proven experience (minimum 3 years) in Field Service work involving the installation of mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Experience with Wärtsilä's products will be beneficial.
  • Deep understanding of the principles of operation of 2-stroke engines, with eagerness to learn and develop further to service retrofit products.
  • Good understanding of technical instructions, drawings, and schematic diagrams (e.g., pneumatic and electrical systems).
  • Awareness and readiness to take on tasks involving mechanical and electrical troubleshooting for engines, auxiliary systems, and service products.
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad (up to 200 days per year).
  • Proficiency in English and Polish, both spoken and written.
  • Good reporting skills, both written and verbal, for daily reports and final submissions.
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly with team members of various nationalities and communicate efficiently with customers, supervisors, and internal or external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and openness to learn system tools for reporting and administrative purposes.
