Due to an increasing demand, we are now looking for Senior Service Technicians to strengthen our 2-Stroke Field Service team in Gdansk, Poland. In this role, your main focus will be performing field service activities on Wärtsilä 2-stroke marine diesel engines, such as overhauls, scheduled inspections, and routine maintenance, in accordance with our maintenance agreements.
As a Senior Service Technician in the 2-Stroke Field Service team, you will have the opportunity to work internationally, traveling the world for approximately 150 – 200 days per year. Thus, we hope that you are eager to travel and possess a strong field service mindset. When you are not traveling, you will have the flexibility to work partially remotely, in accordance with our hybrid work model.
Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
- Perform overhauls, maintenance, and repairs on 2-stroke engines aboard vessels.
- Conduct scheduled inspections and routine maintenance as per established service documentation and maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose, report, and contribute to solving technical problems.
- Operate mechanical, hydraulic, and measuring tools (e.g. pumps, cranes, and transportation equipment).
- Collaborate effectively with the 2-Stroke Field Service teams and job leaders to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Execute other related service tasks onboard vessels both at sea and at shipyards.
The below will enable you to succeed in this role:
- Experience with 2-stroke or marine diesel engines, particularly within the marine industry.
- Experience of working with and servicing heavy machinery.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and service manuals.
- Solid understanding of working principles of mechanical tools and equipment used in service work.
- Ability to accurately diagnose and communicate technical issues.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work in international and multi-cultural teams.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and occasionally in adverse environments.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel 150 – 200 days per year.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and maritime documentation (e.g., Seaman's Book) is advantageous.
- Fluent Polish language skills, both written and spoken.
- Good English language skills will be considered an advantage.
