Wärtsilä, a world leader in advanced technologies and innovative solutions for the marine and energy sectors, is seeking highly skilled Senior Service Technician to join our dynamic service team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment and to be part of a company driving the advancements in marine technology.

 

The preferred location for this position is Gdansk, Poland.

 

Your role and responsibilities 

 

  • Perform overhauls, maintenance, and repairs on 2-stroke engines aboard vessels.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and routine maintenance as per established service documentation and maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to diagnose, report, and contribute to solving technical problems.
  • Operate mechanical, hydraulic, and measuring tools (eg.HP pumps, cranes, and transportation equipment).
  • Collaborate effectively with the 2S FS teams and job leaders to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Execute other related service tasks onboard vessels both at sea and at shipyards.

 

Requirements for the position

 

  • Proven experience working with 2-stroke, or marine diesel engines, particularly within the marine industry.
  • Proven experience of work with and servicing heavy machinery.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation and service manuals.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work in international teams.
  • Solid understanding of working principles of mechanical tools and equipment used in service work.
  • Ability to accurately diagnose and communicate technical issues.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and occasionally in adverse environments.
  • Flexibility to travel and work abroad with international teams.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and maritime documentation (e.g., Seaman's Book) is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of English is a plus.
