Senior Tool Operator

We are now looking to welcome an enthusiastic Senior Tool Operator to our skilled Workshop team. The role is offered as a permanent contract and will be based in our Workshop in Gdansk, Poland.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

As a Senior Tool Operator in our Workshop, your tasks will revolve around general machining of engine components and operating a variety of machines, including lathes and milling machines, both stationary and portable.

 

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Maintaining and managing the tool machine to meet specific time requirements for job completion.
  • Handling portable machine tools.
  • Supporting the workshop team in inspecting engine components, if necessary.
  • Fulfilling all tasks assigned by the Foreman/Team Leader.
  • Ensuring high-quality work, proper documentation, and adherence to work procedures.
  • Performing ongoing quality control and demonstrating strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Maintaining the quality and efficiency of mechanical work in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and ISO procedures.
  • Following good mechanical work practices to maintain the shop and tool machines.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction through positive interactions and job performance.
  • Adhering to all Wärtsilä regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions, and Polish labour law.
  • Adhering to all safety rules and using appropriate safety equipment.

 

 

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:

 

  • Education in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5-8 years of experience as a machinist/tool operator, preferably in the marine trade.
  • Proficiency in general machining of engine components and operating machines such as lathes and milling machines.
  • Native Polish language skills.
  • Basic knowledge of the English language will be considered an advantage.
  • Openness to learning and being taught.
  • Willingness to travel up to 2-3 times for 1-2 weeks per year.
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to work overtime and weekend shifts if needed.
