We are looking for a Service Engineer, Mechanical with a main responsibility in performing maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauls, and commissioning activities on Wärtsilä engines and related mechanical systems.
The preferred location for this position is Gdańsk, Poland, but other locations within Poland may be negotiable.
Your role and responsibilities:
As a Service Engineer, Mechanical, your work will include performing mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, overhauls, and commissioning activities on Wärtsilä products and similar medium-bore diesel engines. You will support customers worldwide by ensuring reliable and efficient operation of their equipment while delivering high-quality service according to Wärtsilä standards.
The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You'll be working as part of our highly skilled and customer-focused Field Service team with diverse expertise.
As a Service Engineer, Mechanical you will focus on these responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhauls on Wärtsilä and similar medium-bore diesel engines.
- Carry out inspections, repairs, and in-situ machining activities at customer sites and onboard vessels.
- Execute commissioning and pre-commissioning activities for mechanical systems and engines.
- Prepare accurate service reports, technical documentation, and expense reports.
- Support testing, trial runs, audits, and investigations while ensuring compliance with Wärtsilä standards.
Requirements for the position:
- Technical education in Mechanical, Marine Engineering, or a related field, combined with relevant field service experience.
- Experience working with Wärtsilä engines or similar medium-bore diesel engine applications.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance expertise.
- Ability and willingness to travel globally for approximately 7-8 months per year.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
As an ideal candidate you might also have:
- Experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Lead Man, Mechanical Officer, or Service Engineer.
- Knowledge of auxiliary systems and equipment.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working in power plants, marine environments, or field service operations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in multicultural environments.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
- Motivation to continuously learn and grow professionally.
- Proficiency with MS Office and digital reporting tools.
- Additional language skills.
In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel (approximately 70%), even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
