Business Unit Shaft Line Solutions in Marine is looking to welcome a Service Engineer to perform Field Service work. The role is offered on a permanent basis and will be based in Gdańsk, Poland.


What you will be doing:

 

Work is conducted in shipyards and onboard ships, with both domestic and international assignments. You will work in shipyards in Gdynia or Gdańsk, Poland, as well as in various countries, including Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, and the Balkans region. This job typically involves seal equipment replacement, bonding, and installation work, usually taking between 5 and 7 days, though some projects may last up to 15 days. You will need manual skills for tasks such as equipment installation and removal.

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Perform Field Service activities according to the work plan. 
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs on equipment either at the job site or in the workshop.
  • Interact professionally with customers during the work execution. 
  • Perform internal and external progress status of the assigned work. 
  • Create the Service Work Reports. 
  • Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines and site procedures.
  • Follow-up and report on the status of work orders to customers and/or internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously seek solutions according to best practices.

 
To be successful in this role, we expect you have:
 

  • Graduate in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with a blend of maritime education and practical experience.
  • Technical experience in marine engineering with practical problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in installation operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Highly effective technical communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Communicate professionally and provide effective solutions to customers while performing your duties
  • Experience in propulsion shaft alignment and Stern Tube Bearings is beneficial. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Fluent Polish along with strong English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Be willing and able to travel as required.
  • A safety-first mindset.
