We are looking for a Superintendent Propulsionwith a main responsibility in executing Field Service activities in alignment with Wärtsilä's quality standards. 

 

This role is ideal for someone with a strong Field Service mindset who enjoys hands-on work and seeing the world. You’ll be a trusted technical expert for our customers, delivering high-quality results and traveling globally (up to ~80%) with accurate planning and solid support. 

 

The preferred location for this position is Gdansk (Poland), but we warmly welcome applicants from anywhere in Poland - location is flexible!  

 

Your role and responsibilities   

 

As a Superintendent Propulsion you will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Perform mechanical maintenance and overhauls on propulsion products, including FPP, CPP, Gearbox, Transverse Thruster, Azimuth Thruster, and Waterjets systems. 

  • Troubleshooting, maintenance, and investigation of propulsion equipment. 

  • Execution of propulsion warranty tasks and supervision during new building projects. 

  • Performing system upgrades for propulsion control systems. 

  • Executing warranty and field service supervision activities. 

  • Preparing detailed service work reports. 

  • Technical communication with Wärtsilä Field Service stakeholders and customers. 

  • A high level of independence in organizing your own work and coordinating shipyard activities throughout the project. 

 

Requirements for the position   

 

  • Diploma or BSc degree in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical & Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering. 

  • Proven ability to work with engine and propulsion systems, ideally with a Field Service or Marine Engineer background. 

  • Mechanical maintenance and overhaul experience with the following propulsion products will be considered an advantage: 

    • Fixed Pitch Propellers (FPP) 

    • Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP) 

    • Gearboxes 

    • Transverse Thrusters 

    • Azimuth Thrusters 

    • Waterjets systems 

  • Good command of written and spoken English. 

  • Fluency in Polish (both written and spoken). 

  • Willingness and ability to travel globally for service jobs, up to 80%, depending on shipyard service needs.
