Team Leader 2-Stroke Field Service

We are now looking for an experienced and motivated Team Leader to manage the Service Engineers and Mechanics in our 2-Stroke Field Service team. The role is offered as a permanent contract and the preferred location is Gdansk, Poland. In accordance with our hybrid work model, you will be able to work partially remotely.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

As Team Leader in the 2-Stroke Field Service team, you will play a crucial role in overseeing a group of experts dedicated to the maintenance and repair of 2-stroke engines, both on seagoing vessels and in shipyards. Your responsibilities will include leading the team and enhancing its competencies, ensuring the safety and quality of field service operations, and working closely with Field Service Management, Technical Services, and other Field Service teams to achieve business goals. Your focus will be fostering a strong sense of belonging within the 2-Stroke Field Services team, maintaining and developing team competencies, upholding high service standards, balancing workloads, and supporting the professional growth of individual team members.

 

 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Lead the team of approximately 20 FS Mechanics and Engineers in the 2-stroke engine Field Service team in Poland.
  • Managing and supervise service activities, team's performance ensuring timely delivery and high-quality standards are met.
  • Oversee the career development of team members, providing support and coaching.
  • Foster a strong sense of belonging to the 2s FS team, motivation for work and development within the team.
  • Monitor and report the business performance of the team, ensuring targets and objectives are met.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, working rules and standards for safety, quality and environmental protection.
  • Collaborate with 2S FS management and other Wärtsilä stakeholders (FS Coordinators, Resource Planning) to optimize resource allocation, availability and quality of service delivery.
  • Promote operational excellence to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Take an active role in creating and implementing action plans for continuous improvement.

 

To succeed in this role, you should have:

 

  • A technical background (BSc or MSc in Engineering).
  • Proven track of experience in a managerial role within the service or technical sector, preferably with marine 2-stroke engines (three years at least).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills in Polish and fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Solid knowledge of internal combustion engines or marine/naval architecture and equipment.
  • Excellent reporting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with remote team collaboration and tools (Excel, Teams, Outlook etc.).
