We are looking for a Designer to our Machinery and Piping department team in the System Engineering of the Integrated System and Solutions in Wartsila .
The preferred location for the position is Gdynia, Poland.
What will you be doing?
- Be actively involved in design of the machinery and other ships systems and arrangements
- Cooperate with internal and external engineering organizations
- Ensure that drawing and documents are following general international standards and Wärtsilä guidelines and standards and that the documented information is correct in terms of content, quality and functionality.
- Perform evaluation of the Ship’s design regarding development of propulsion solutions based on alternative fuels and decarbonisation strategy;
- Develop 3D models of system solutions based on assemblies of various products properly coordinated within ships structure;
- Make drawings and documents for ship piping systems, ventilation and machinery arrangements according to guidelines, plans and time schedules.
- Make drawings and plans of toxic and explosive zones for gases or ammonia vapours.
- Support the sale departments in the feasibility and offer studies regarding alternative fuel systems and newest market’s trends requirements
- Be able to carry out design work and provide technical information, in order to prepare documentation for ship’s systems and solutions (systems and machinery arrangements) for sales projects
- Actively involved in trainings and application of the new market trends of alternative fuels and bi-fuel propulsion systems.
- Be open for a new challenges, especially related to decarbonization and electrification of marine business
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to organize design development, engineering work and provide technical information for ship ventilation systems and machinery arrangements using provided software tools
- Familiarity with maritime authorities rules and Class requirements
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, work independently and collaborate with a multi-discipline and international team.
- Be familiar with marine and technical English language.
- Willingness to travel if necessary ability to work with diverse cultures
- Good skills in MS Office package,
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD and machinery/power supply/piping aspects of ship design process
- Experience with NX software
You will shine in this role when you have:
- Experience with NX/TeamCenter environment
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor
- Experience with Cadmatic Hull&Outfitting software and production machinery/foundations/piping aspects of ship design process
- Knowledge of classification and requirements for alternative fuels and new market trends in marine propulsion systems
