Structural Engineer

In Wärtsilä Gas solutions (GS) our Structural Engineer will manage day-to-day project work, produce complete analysis and documentation according to GS customers and GS internal standards. Actively drive for improvement of work methods (including lessons learned). Ensure that the design engineering work is supporting the project team, discipline, and company strategies and processes. 

Validate and recommend solutions that will improve GS competitiveness both technically and financially.

 

As Structural Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

Participation in Gas Solutions project execution within engineering package preparation:

  • Document analysis and design work in project calculation books in accordance with department work instruction
  • Review and approve technical report
  • Report to superior Engineer (Lead Design and/or Engineering Manager) about progress of works, missing reference documents, plans, arrangements etc.
  • Provide structural stability and integrity calculations for marine and onshore structures. Design to resist forces for in-service, installation, and transportation load conditions. Determination of size, shape, strength, and type of structural members
  • Quality check of the ongoing works and related deliverables on daily, weekly basis
  • Participate on regular base in Project Team meeting
  • Gather records related to project lessons learnt for further implementation (next projects)
  • Exploit new innovations

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Min. 5 years sufficient experience with structural analysis and design in marine industry
  • Experience with gas systems projects based upon international codes and standards in marine and onshore applications (DIN-ISO/ASME/ANSI/API/ OCIMF/SGMF)
  • Experience in Strength of Materials, Fine Element Analysis from structural standpoint
  • Familiar with engineering tools 2D/3D (AutoCAD/ Robot Structural/ FEMAP)
  • Ability to work independent and with a team
  • Good English language skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Implement good engineering practices in project activities, knowledge of Wartsila Gas Solutions standards, practices will be an advantage
