Supplier Development Engineer

Supply Management organization within Wärtsilä - Gas solutions is looking for one Supplier Development Engineers preferably with mechanical/ product engineering background to strengthen the Supplier Development team. Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) will oversee the execution and further development of all the suppliers for GS commodities. SDE is also in charge of suppliers’ product and technology approval process along with Component experts, QC engineers and sourcing team, working in cross functional collaborative teams.

 

Supplier Development team is accountable for:

Ensuring that suppliers are properly onboarded and that correct actions are taken to continuously monitor and improve their quality, cost, and delivery performance.

 

Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for:

  • Assess supplier compliance toward Wärtsilä Basic Supplier requirements.
  • Plan and perform Project/Production Process Control audits of suppliers to identify and mitigate risks of suppliers not meeting GS technical, delivery, quality and cost requirements and inform stakeholders about the risks.
  • Lead product approval process for critical components to ensure suppliers’ full understanding and compliance with GS specifications and capability assurance of production, inspection/ testing, and delivery of first order with cooperation with technical experts and QC engineers.
  • Collect data, analyse suppliers’ performance, and develop key suppliers’ performance reports.
  • Develop, execute, and monitor suppliers’ development action plans to meet GS specific requirements, mitigate identified risks and improve performance.
  • Supporting suppliers for eliminating waste to reduce cost and lead time without compromising functionality and quality of deliveries.
  • Participate and support RCA cases with direct relation to suppliers’ deliverables, ensuring supplier engagement and identifying development areas based on the outcome.
  • Support sourcing strategies’ roll out and actively participate in the commodity team action plan creation including decision making of supplier rationalization and change.
  • Build and maintain close relationships and communication with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Utilizing and developing existing SDE and GS tools and check lists to accomplish above mentioned responsibilities.

Professional:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working preferably as Mechanical or Electrical engineer, however other technical background will be considered and encouraged to apply

  • Having technical analytical mind and passion for learning new technologies
  • Being energetic, Positive minded, sharp, and proactive to be able to capture the opportunities toward better quality, cost, and lead time
