Software Service Engineer (m/f)

Water and Waste is an end-to-end business as part of Wärtsilä’s Portfolio network. 
Wärtsilä Serck Como, Geesthacht, is now looking for a Software Service Engineer, reporting into the Spare Parts & Service Manager.


We offer you interesting and challenging work servicing our customers installed freshwater systems worldwide. Your primary task is to do maintenance work at customer sites onboard cruise ships. You should have good knowledge in PLC programming, positive customer mindset and you feel comfortable working on your own and sometimes "get your hands dirty". 


In this role, a significate amount of travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you will be available to travel nationally and internationally for long periods of time.

What will you be doing?


As a Software Service Engineer, your work will focus on:
•    Programming of PLC controls and visualization of user interfaces 
•    Connection to existing automation systems with different kind of PLC communication
•    Adaption of related electrical system
•    Troubleshooting (electrical, mechanical, software) at site 
•    Customer support 
•    Preparing customer quotes and claim handling 
•    Commissioning work of automation systems for the new freshwater system deliveries
•    Service work of existing freshwater systems control units onboard vessels and on land
•    Commissioning and development work of automation upgrades for existing evaporators 


The below will enable you to shine in this role:

•    Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering (as electrical or mechanical engineer) or equivalent 
•    First experience with evaporators
•    Good programming skills of PLC controls (Siemens S7 / S5 Protool /WinCC)
•    Good network knowledge (Profibus, Modbus, Profinet, Etanet)
•    Technical product knowledge
•    Practical electrical skills
•    Sales and customer oriented
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally
•    Systematic and organised way of working 
•    Pro-active individual who is dedicated and motivated to succeed
•    Demonstrable problem solving and decision-making skills
•    Fluency in English and German, both written and verbal
•    Knowledge in using MS Office applications
