Sales Proposals Engineer

We are looking for a Sales Proposals Engineer to join our Sales Proposals Team Italy & Turkey. The requested location for the position is in Genoa, Italy.


What you will be doing

Sales Proposals Engineer role means, through a proper commercial attitude, to develop capability to transfer product technical features into commercially appealing proposals highlighting the value of the proposed solution. It is accountable for the technical-sales support activities towards Sales Managers and Business Units in compliance with their requirements and inputs. Indeed, based on understanding of margin, cost calculation and pricing strategies, Sales Proposals Engineer is responsible for offers creation prepared within an advanced tool.


As Sales Proposals Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Team preparation of sales proposals and supporting presentation material & documents for Spare Parts, Field Service and B & C class projects where applicable.
  • Review of calculated margin and proposal risk.
  • Support in presenting and explaining proposals to customer.
  • Building of sales funnel through maintenance planning and dry-docking dates.
  • Assist to co-ordinate internal and external promoting of solutions and success stories.
  • CRM opportunity data quality after offering.
  • Approval of offers within approval guidelines.
  • Promoting high quality leads from Lead to Opportunity with the Sales Team.
  • Use of data and analytics to identify new opportunities.


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Proper education, preferably MSc or equivalent, work experience in 2-Stroke (shall be really positively evaluated) and 4-Stroke markets and proven track record in successfully leading regional sales within challenging markets.
  • Knowledge of regional market and awareness of cultural diversity.
  • Customer focus and capability of building strategic relationships.
  • Good knowledge of Wärtsilä products and solutions.
  • Strong business and results-orientation.
  • Experience with negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Drive for performance with positive attitude.
  • Being part of the team and drive enthusiastically our cultural and DNA change.
  • Encourage the exchange of ideas and collaboration across organizational boundaries.
  • Contributor towards developing a healthy team spirit and team dynamics.
  • Multiple years of work experience, also in demanding, structured organizations / business environment, in particular related to Marine Power products (2-Stroke and 4-Stroke).
  • Previous experiences in Sales and/or Technical Support will be positively evaluated, with special focus to previous experiences in the products above.
  • Have advanced knowledge of MS Office and CRM (Salesforce) applications.
  • Written and spoken English and Italian languages for daily activities is required.
