We are looking for a motivated Workshop Engineer to join our team in Genoa, Italy.
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical assembly, disassembly, maintenance, and repair activities both in the workshop and onboard customer vessels. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality service delivery, operational excellence, and adherence to safety standards while supporting the maintenance of mechanical systems and rotating equipment.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Workshop Engineer, you will focus on these responsibilities:
- Perform assembly and disassembly of mechanical components and systems onboard vessels and in workshop environments, ensuring maintenance and repair activities meet technical standards and quality requirements.
- Operate workshop machinery, equipment, and tools safely and effectively.
- Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Carry out both workshop and field service assignments as required.
- Record measurements, technical data, and service findings accurately, and issue detailed work reports.
- Utilize and maintain workshop tools and equipment in accordance with best mechanical practices.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies, work procedures, and safety instructions.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve team and organizational objectives.
Requirements for the position
- Previous experience working in a mechanical workshop environment.
- A technical high school diploma in Mechanics, Mechatronics, Marine Engineering, Industrial Machinery, or a related field.
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems and rotating equipment, supported by practical hands-on experience.
- Familiarity with overhaul processes and associated equipment.
- Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments, including metric and imperial tools, as well as specialized measuring equipment.
- Experience using workshop and field service tools, including the ability to perform first-line maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 40% of the time.
As an ideal candidate you might also have…
- Hands-on experience in Turbocharger (T/C) maintenance, which will be considered a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication, planning, and time management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to achieving shared goals.

The annual salary range for this role is 26.953 EUR – 36.622 EUR in accordance with the salary provisions in the applicable National Collective Labor Agreement for workers in the metalworking and plant installation industry (CCNL Metalmeccanico).
