Workshop Trainee

We are looking for two motivated Interns to join our Workshop team, and to focus especially on Propulsion items.
The location for the position is in Genova, Italy.
Your role and training opportunities
During the training period, the intern will acquire the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required for the maintenance of propulsion systems installed on board merchant and naval vessels, including:
- Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP) and associated auxiliary equipment (hydraulic power units, oil distribution systems, and control systems)
- Fixed and Controllable Pitch Thrusters and associated auxiliary equipment, including related auxiliary systems (hydraulic power units, oil distribution systems, and control systems)
- Azimuth Thrusters and associated auxiliary equipment
During the internship there will be a training program, focuses on “learning on-the-job” activities, that includes:
- Introduction and familiarization with the working environment
- Understanding and compliance with health and safety regulations
- Theoretical introduction to marine propulsion systems
- Proper use of tools and workshop equipment
- Hands-on maintenance activities on components in the workshop under the supervision of experienced technicians
- Time management and effective use of personal and technical resources
At the end of the six-month apprenticeship period, the trainee may have the opportunity to participate to business trips alongside propulsion technicians to gain practical field experience and further develop the skills acquired in the workshop.
Requirements for the position
- Technical Diploma from a Nautical Technical Institute, Marine Engineering specialization
- Curious mindset and strong willingness to learn
- Strong team-working attitude
- Positive and proactive approach to tasks and challenges
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies
- Good knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good communication skills

Il tuo ruolo e le opportunità di formazione
Durante il periodo di formazione, lo stagista acquisirà le conoscenze fondamentali e le competenze pratiche necessarie per la manutenzione dei sistemi di propulsione installati a bordo di navi mercantili e militari, tra cui:
- Eliche a passo variabile (CPP) e relative apparecchiature ausiliarie (unità di potenza idraulica, sistemi di distribuzione dell’olio e sistemi di controllo)
- Thruster a passo fisso e variabile e relative apparecchiature ausiliarie, inclusi i sistemi ausiliari correlati (unità di potenza idraulica, sistemi di distribuzione dell’olio e sistemi di controllo)
- Thruster azimutali e relative apparecchiature ausiliarie
Durante lo stage è previsto un programma di formazione, focalizzato su attività di “learning on-the-job”, che include:
- Introduzione e familiarizzazione con l’ambiente di lavoro
- Comprensione e rispetto delle normative in materia di salute e sicurezza
- Introduzione teorica ai sistemi di propulsione marina
- Utilizzo corretto di utensili e attrezzature di officina
- Attività pratiche di manutenzione sui componenti in officina sotto la supervisione di tecnici esperti
- Gestione del tempo e utilizzo efficace delle risorse personali e tecniche
Al termine del periodo di apprendistato di sei mesi, lo stagista potrà avere l’opportunità di partecipare a trasferte di lavoro insieme ai tecnici della propulsione, per acquisire esperienza pratica sul campo e sviluppare ulteriormente le competenze apprese in officina.
Requisiti per la posizione
- Diploma tecnico conseguito presso un Istituto Tecnico Nautico, nozioni base in ambito meccanico o navale
- Mentalità curiosa e forte volontà di imparare
- Forte attitudine al lavoro di squadra
- Approccio positivo e proattivo alle attività e alle sfide
- Disponibilità a imparare e ad adattarsi a nuovi processi e tecnologie
- Una buona conoscenza dell’inglese costituisce un vantaggio
- Capacità di lavorare sotto pressione e rispettare le scadenze
- Buone capacità comunicative
