The GOE2 Power Plant is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the reliable operation and maintenance of plant equipment. The successful candidate will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and ensure plant equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and standards.

Role Summary / Purpose

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment within the power plant. The role includes performing inspections, troubleshooting mechanical faults, executing preventive maintenance tasks, and assisting with engine overhauls to ensure reliability and efficiency of plant operations.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power plant mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair engines, pumps, valves, piping systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Support scheduled engine maintenance including inspections, overhauls, and component replacement.
  • Monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities or potential failures.
  • Follow plant maintenance procedures, safety rules, and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment when required.
  • Work closely with operations personnel to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure work areas comply with safety and environmental standards.

 

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or power plant environment.
  • Knowledge of pumps, compressors, valves, piping systems, and lubrication systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience working in a power plant environment.
  • Familiarity with Wärtsilä engine technology and auxiliary systems.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance systems and condition monitoring.
  • Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
