Wärtsilä’s Water and Waste Business Unit, a one-stop-shop for water and waste treatment and fresh water generation solutions in the marine industry is now looking for a

 

Business & Company Controller (m/f/d)

 

to lead the finance and business control activities of our fresh water generation and aftersales businesses as well as to act as a company controller for Wärtsilä Serck Como GmbH.  

 

The position will report to Director, Business Control, Water and Waste, and will play a key role in driving the businesses towards high performance and reaching the business targets. The successful candidate will preferably be located in the Hamburg area, but other locations will be considered too.

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • As the co-pilot to Director, Business Control and the business leaders, you lead, manage and develop the fresh water and aftersales businesses to reach the business targets
  • Act as the company controller for the legal entity in Germany ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines and local regulation
  • Ensure reliable and high-quality financial information is in place to develop and grow the businesses
  • Based on financial information, proactively analyze business opportunities and make proposals for business development
  • Hold businesses accountable for delivering business results
  • Financial planning, forecasting, reporting, monthly closing and other finance related activities

 

As an ideal candidate you will have the following qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 7-10 years experience in high quality business and financial control and ability to steer the business through advances business analysis, financial planning and forecasting
  • Knowledge of IFRS/IAS/HGB and German statutory accounting and reporting requirements
  • Professional knowledge of financial tools (SAP, HFM, QlikView), procedurea and guidelines used in Wärtsilä
  • Experience of financial reporting systems with the ability to navigate multible systems to source data and verify data accuracy
  • Strategic, long-term approach coupled with monthly and quarterly focus in reporting and business analysis
  • Strong team player mindset, proactive and solution orientation
  • Fluent English and German language skills (both written and spoken) are essential
  • M.Sc., Economics or similar education
