In relation to the planned business transformation of Marine Voyage and to strengthen the MV Group Control team, we are looking for a hands-on Director Business Performance, Marine Voyage.

You will play a key role in the Marine Voyage Finance Management Team, establishing and driving the development of the Marine Voyage Business control function. Your focus will be on Marine Voyage growth strategy including tight control of the extensive Voyage investment program (focus on software development). In this position you will report to the VP Finance Marine Voyage. Frequent presence in Hamburg location is required.



Your main responsibilities are

  • Act as a partner for the VP Finance, and other key stakeholders to enable informative decisions regarding the Marine Voyage growth strategy
  • Leading change during the Voyage business transformation process
  • Support in M&A projects
  • Lead financial aspects of system migrations and optimizations
  • Manage Voyage Product Group controllers 
  • Planning and forecasting process for Voyage Product Groups, Sales and Operations including long term financial planning and strategy support; achieve good forecast precision.
  • Oversee Product Group monthly closing, reporting and other finance related activities in compliance with Corporate guidelines (corporate manual, accounting manual, directives etc) and IFRS/IAS. Ensure that the Wärtsilä global initiatives, processes and tools are implemented within MV Group
  • Ensure adequate and efficient performance management to support continuous improvements in processes and Product Group profitability
  • Ensure reliable and accurate R&D control including preparation of investment business cases and investment reviews. 
  • Ensure reliable and accurate logistics, and quality related control processes
  • Working Capital Management with focus on tight inventory controls
  • Focus on building and streamlining off-the shelf reporting 
  • Based on financial business information, proactively analyse business opportunities and risks and make proposals for improvements


Main requirements in this role are

  • Strong business understanding
  • Deep financial knowledge combined with software business related finance experience
  • Hands on operational attitude
  • Proven track record of leading business control team in a global and complex business environment
  • Strong value creation focus
  • Professional knowledge of financial tools, procedures and guidelines used in Wärtsilä. Extensive knowledge of most of corporate governance, forecasting, profitability analysis, IFRS, internal controls and auditing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • M.Sc., Economics or similar education
