Project Purchaser

Welcome to Wärtsilä! We are looking to recruit a Project Purchaser as soon as possible for our Marine Electrical Systems business unit in Marine Power Solutions business line.

 

Your job description

 

As a successful Project Purchaser you will take responsibility of all purchasing related tasks with regards to especially turnkey projects.

 

We are looking for an energetic, ambitious, enthusiastic and technically competent purchaser to join the team in our MPS office in Hamburg. You will report to the Manager Project & Operational Purchasing, but you will be working with other purchasers as well.

 

Due to the matrix setting of our organisation, you will be dealing with networking and relationship building in an international working environment. Willingness to travel occasionally is a must.

 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

 

Ensuring correct and on time availability of materials and/or services for own area of responsibility by:

  • Checking and processing of purchase requisitions or bill of materials
  • Process purchase orders as well as related correspondence and communication.
  • Implementing project-specific purchasing conditions with the support of Legal based on the commercial terms of the customer order
  • Add purchase order confirmations to SAP and follow up missing confirmations from suppliers
  • Monitor deliveries proactively to avoid delays including supplier notifications and reminders.
  • communication with suppliers, requesting departments accounting and warehouse entry
  • Invoice handling on own PO’s
  • Handle supplier information in NC cases

 

Other tasks:

  • Support or run supplier negotiations on project related prices and terms & conditions. Level or limits to be aligned and agreed with responsible Strategic Purchaser.
  • Creating and updating needed information in SAP and document management system needed to perform purchasing after project related negotiations is performed.
  • Gathering supplier data such as spot savings and other agreed KPI related figures and providing data to relevant functions
  • Support end of life actions on supplier side of products and systems
  • Support Project Sales with gathering purchasing price of products, systems and/or services when needed. Level or limits to be aligned and agreed with responsible Strategic Purchaser.
  • Support and work close together with Strategic Purchasers. Perform Strategic Purchasing work when needed.

 

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • Preferably you hold a BSc in Economics and Business Administration or Supply Chain Management. Long experience with Project Purchasing combined with strong personal purchasing skills in larger international environment can compensate for missing formal education.

  • 3-5 year experience with project purchasing of large systems and/or solutions
  • 2-3 year experience with purchasing on operational level
  • Experience from production scheduling or material planning is an advantage
  • Technical background in electrical and/or automation is an benefit, but not a demand
  • Strong personal drive, used to taking own initiatives and being pro-active
  • Self-running and target oriented
  • A systematic and active approach to work
  • Good skills in communication and team work
  • Cost focused
  • Good skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, SAP
  • Contract knowledge with some legal background
  • fluent written and spoken German and English skills
