Our Marine Electrical Systems business provides innovative state-of-the-art system solutions for technical demanding requirements focusing on naval ships, yachts and special vessels of all types. As a competent partner for ship owners and shipyards worldwide Marine Electrical Systems assumes overall responsibility for complex systems projects.


We are now looking for an open-minded and team-oriented Software Engineer for Naval Applications to join our degaussing system team in Hamburg, Germany. A part of Marine Electrical Systems is particularly specialized and has been equipping naval vessels with on-board degaussing systems since decades to obtain an optimal vessel protection against sea mines and enemy vessel identification. The system minimizes the magnetic signature – fingerprint – of the vessel by generating and controlling artificial magnetic fields to mislead opponents.


Your main responsibilities are :


   Tasks within development planning

  • Define and verify of hardware requirements
  • Planning and implementing of software solutions if necessary, with externals
  • Cost evaluation, establish requirement and system specifications, coordinating of external software packages, testing software on module and system base as well as documentation


   Tasks within project handling

  • Software adaption according to project requirements and customer needs incl. tests, failure analysis and needed documentations
  • Clarify interfaces between internal and external components
  • Support of ILS department by explanations and descriptions
  • Participations at FAT with class and customer as well as attendance of setting to work on board


As an ideal candidate, you should have the following :


  • BSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant field 
  • app. 2-3 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
  • Good English/German skills written and spoken (technical)
  • Profound knowledge in C, C# for hardware related, object oriented and Realtime-System programming
  • Knowledge in operating systems VxWorks and Windows Embedded
  • Experience in IT-Security and AQAP 2210 requirements
  • System competence (no special system knowledge, but ability to think in systems) and ability to document requirements and specifications
  • Experience in working with IDEs (preferably Visual Studio, Eclipse) and knowledge about interface protocols (CAN-Bus, TCP/IP ModBus, NMEA, XML) are a nice-to-have
