Manual Machine Operator

We are seeking a Manual Machine Operator to join our team at our Glasgow workshop. This role will report to Workshop Foreman Propulsion and it is a fulltime role.

The Manual Machine Operator will be responsible for operating manual machines on different propulsion equipment 

 

 

What you will do:

 

  • Operate manual machining equipment to parts and components according to specifications.
  • Prepare products for machining by cleaning and masking as required.
  • Inspect machined parts for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including process parameters, materials used, and inspection results.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

 

 

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would have:

 

  • Technical or vocational training in a related field and / or metal working is welcome.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to use manual machines, such as lathes, mills or horizontal borers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require standing and working in various positions.
