Manual Machinist

Manual Machinist 

We are now looking for a Manual Machinist to join our forward-looking team. The position is permanent. The preferred location for the position is in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

 

What will you be doing
As a Manual Machinist you will be focused on operating a wide range of Manual Machines from Milling, Turning Vertical Boring and Horizontal Boring machines.
This would encompass machining a wide range of materials and component types, working to engineering drawings and to a high tolerance of accuracy.

 

As Manual Machinist, your work will also focus on these responsibilities:

  • Machining of parts on assorted machines
  • Working with Castings and various metals
  • Reading and understanding engineering drawings and instructions
  • Use of hand and power tools, overhead cranes and measuring equipment.
  • Taking and recording quality measurements.
  • Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Taking part in team and individual based improvement activities.

 

You will shine in this role, when you have:

  • Demonstrable background within an engineering environment, with experience of turning and milling techniques.
  • Proven ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
  • Collaborative team player, at ease communicating with colleagues throughout the business and via various means
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written.
  • A valid driver's licence is required for this role, due to the varied amounts of domestic travel.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to undergo base line security clearance

 

We will be amazed if you also have some of the following optional experience:

  • HND/HNC Apprenticeship served qualification within mechanical engineering is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Marine industry.
  • Forklift Counter Balance/Reach Licence
