Propeller Repair Welder

What will you be doing


Your main responsibilities are repair propellers and associated marine equipment. In this position you will report to the foreman metallurgical repairs. 
For us to be the best match, we expect you to have a solid understanding of propulsion and propeller repairs and their systems and to have gained hands-on experience with world wide travel.

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?


Your work will focus on, but is not limited to, these responsibilities:

  • Development of your own skills and welding qualifications to increase your skill level.
  • Preferably 5 years of working experience in a production or maintenance environment of mechanical installations.
  • Experience within the marine industry or propulsion installations is seen as an advantage.
  • Knowledge or affinity with repair procedures like machining and welding.
  • You have the ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • You are a stress resistant and flexible service professional who is able to positively work in a team.
  • Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and procedures.
  • Liaise with customers on site world wide for repair work.
  • Look for further opportunities while on site.
  • Liaise with Classification society’s.
  • Carry out work in the thruster overhaul facility as and when required.
  • A valid driver's licence is required for this role, due to the varied amounts of domestic travel.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to undergo base line security clearance
  • HND/HNC Apprenticeship served qualification within mechanical engineering is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Marine industry.
  • Forklift Counter Balance/Reach Licence
