Company & Business Controller


Wärtsilä’s Water and Waste Business Unit, a one-stop-shop for water and waste treatment and fresh water generation solutions in the marine industry, is now looking for a Company Controller to lead the finance and business control activities of our fresh water generation business at Wärtsilä Serck Como GmbH.  


The position will report to Managing Director, Wärtsilä  Serck Como GmbH, and will play a key role in driving the fresh water business towards high performance and reaching the business targets. The successful candidate will preferably be located in the Hamburg area, but other locations will be considered too.


As a Company Controller your responsibiltiies will include, but are not limited to:


  • Be a key support to the Director, Business Control, Water and Waste and the business leaders, you lead, manage and develop the fresh water newbuild and aftersales business to reach the business targets
  • Act as the Company Controller for the legal entity in Germany ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines and local regulation
  • Ensure reliable and high-quality financial information is in place to develop and grow the businesses
  • Based on financial information, proactively analyze business opportunities and make proposals for business development
  • Hold businesses accountable for delivering business results
  • Financial planning, forecasting, reporting, monthly closing and other finance related activities


You will shine in this role when you have:


  • M.Sc. in Finance or  similar education together with proven practical experience.
  • Proven and established background in high quality business and financial control and ability to steer the business through advanced business analysis, financial planning and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of IFRS/IAS and German statutory accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Professional knowledge of the financial tools (SAP, HFM, QlikView or similar), procedures and guidelines used in a globally acting company.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of financial reporting systems with the ability to navigate multiple systems to source data and verify data accuracy.
  • Strategic, long-term approach coupled with monthly and quarterly focus in reporting and business analysis.
  • Strong team player mindset, proactive and solution orientation.
  • Hands-on, can-do attitude.
  • Fluent both in English and German.
