Developer – Collision Avoidance systems (m/f/d)

 

Location – Hamburg, Germany

 

To us, Autonomous shipping is not about visions of unmanned vessels or fully automated port operations. At least not just. While everybody is out there speculating about where “Autonomy” might eventually possibly perhaps lead us, we’re taking a slightly different approach: We’re taking action and explore what we can do with autonomy today. Our big advantage on this journey: a stepwise approach. We are establishing a variety of solutions that range from “simple” decision support at one end to fully unmanned vessels on the other. With this, we don’t have to speculate about what might eventually be but can already harness the power of “Autonomous Potential” to create benefits right here and now. For a safer, more efficient and sustainable today. And to set the foundation for a bright tomorrow.

 

To drive and utilise this potential we are now looking to recruit a software developer for collision avoidance systems.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Develop collision avoidance and path planning algorithms for ships.
  • Develop and implement frameworks for autonomous ship, including test, data processing, geospatial calculations.
  • In addition to software development activities support testing, both in simulation and through sea trials.

 

Candidate profile:

 

  • Excellent programming skills in C++ in Windows.
  • Good knowledge of algorithms, especially those related to path planning and optimization, as well as basic understanding of state machines.
  • Experience with unit testing and functional test development.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning and statistical analysis.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Ability and willingness to learn subject field related to autonomy and marine navigation.
  • Ability to work with other teams across the global organization
  • Fluent English.
