Engineer Sales Support, Marine Power Solutions

Welcome to Wärtsilä! We are looking to recruit an Engineer Sales Support as soon as possible for our Marine Power Solutions business unit.

 

Your job description

 

As a successful Engineer Sales Support you will take responsibility on a project by project basis for Sales Engineering primarily related to Power Conversion products within the Marine Power Solutions (MPS) Sales Engineering team. 

 

As an Engineer Sales Support you are the right hand of our Area Sales Managers and Network offices account managers, in the technical and commercial support of all Power Conversion business line opportunities. These opportunities are typically related to diesel-electric systems, hybrid-electric systems, controlled shaft generators and short connection systems. You will be involved in multiple sales projects (primarily controlled shaft generator) with a high variety of vessel applications from the early sales phase, up to the sales offering and deal transfer to the project teams. 

 

We are looking for an energetic, ambitious, enthusiastic and technically competent engineer to join the team in our MPS office in Hamburg. You will report to the General Manager Sales Engineering, but you will be working with other Sales Engineers, Engineers Sales Support and Sales Managers worldwide.

 

Due to the matrix setting of our organisation, you will be dealing with networking and relationship building in an international working environment. Willingness to travel occasionally is a must.

 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

 

  • Providing customer specific solutions (technically and commercially), generating offers, specifications and other related sales documents according to requirements of Sales project /bidding project
  • Perform technical assistance to Sales Manager and customers, participate negotiations when needed
  • Responsible for the cost calculation for sales project, and providing the correct cost structure for supporting commercial and contract negotiation 
  • Participate relevant sales review meetings and prepare the associated documentation
  • Continuously follow up key projects/hot projects status and provide support timely and effectively
  • Coordinate with different departments and sub suppliers, optimize/balance offer between technical solutions and sales price

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • Preferably you hold a Masters or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong organizational skills, focused on achieving results
  • Continuous improvement and Operational Excellence mindset
  • Good understanding of Power Conversion products and basic understanding of other MPS products. 
  • Good understanding of customer and its business 
  • Situational and cultural sensitivity skills 
  • Excellent Communication skills 
  • Cost awareness & effectiveness
