Portfolio Management Lead

We are now looking for a Portfolio Management Lead to join our Product Office team.


Purpose of the role:

Wärtsilä Voyage possesses the full range of on-board ship navigational, automation and coastal traffic control products and decision support AI. We believe that the future of safe and efficient shipping belongs to a semi- and autonomous transport and are now searching for a Portfolio Management Lead to take our product governance to the next level and manage the portfolio of products in line with the Voyage strategy. The mission of the Portfolio Management Lead is to contribute to the strategy execution through an active role in creating solid product proposals and portfolio transformation initiatives.

The Portfolio Management Lead will report to the Director of Product Office Governance and will be preferably be based in either of the following locations - Helsinki, or Hamburg.


Key responsibilities:

  • Engage with product heads and product managers to prepare holistic proposals and reviews with solid data and scenarios
  • Facilitate planning and prioritization with product and portfolio scenarios and trade-off analysis including financial performance.
  • Craft initial scope of change initiatives and requirements that deliver strategic objectives
  • Ensure seamless hand-over from strategy to product development execution
  • Develop competitor and regulator landscape framework including strategic benchmark with Go-To-Market team


Key requirements:

  • 5+ years in product and/or portfolio management in relevant technology, product and service domains.
  • Ability to think strategic and long term, to cover broad range of propositions and drill down into details.
  • At ease with business case, financials and value chain concepts.
  • Creative, well-organized and people oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills for impactful presentation.
  • Experience with Portfolio Management tool is a plus.
  • Ability to build & develop trustful professional relationships with ease across your business stakeholders and peers.  
  • Bring a creative thinking approach when it comes to complex problem-solving situations.   
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • Fluency in English is a must.
  • Be willing to travel up to 25%.
