R&D Funding Project Manager

A prominent part of our product development strategy is to run and participate in publicly funded research and development (R&D). We are now looking for an experienced R&D Funding Project Manager to join our team to drive and coordinate this effort. 

The role:  

The R&D Funding Project Manager will manage the whole lifecycle of our portfolio of publicly funded R&D initiatives from upcoming opportunities, coordination between partners to reporting. This will be done in close collaboration with colleagues across the Smart Vessel Product Group and Wärtsilä Voyage. 


Your responsibilities 

  • ensuring we are aware of upcoming opportunities  

  • assessment and selection of calls to participate in  

  • bringing together consortia for joint applications  

  • preparation and submission of applications 

  • coordination of project work with funding authorities and external partners 

  • internal and external reporting 



What we are looking for:  

  • A highly structured colleague who is able to manage many tasks at the same time 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate with a broad range of people on a Senior level 

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, including in English 

  • Past experience with publicly funded R&D is a big plus  

  • Experience in Project and/or programme management  

  • Experience in working with national or European government bodies and applying for public funding
