Project Engineer Technical Documentation

Our Marine Electrical Systems business provides innovative state-of-the-art system solutions for technical demanding requirements focusing on naval ships, yachts and special vessels of all types. As a competent partner for ship owners and shipyards worldwide Marine Electrical Systems assumes overall responsibility for complex systems projects.

 

We are now looking for an open-minded and team-oriented

 

Project Engineer Technical Documentation (m/f/d) 

 

to join our ILS team.

 

The preferred location for the position is in Hamburg, Germany.
 

What you will be donig

 

The ILS (Integrated Logistics Support Team) team is responsible for providing our military customers (mainly the German Navy) with high-quality and up-to-date information and deliveries covering the complete ILS scope. This starts from LCC-RAMS analysis and maintenance information and covers also the spare parts information as well as the technical documentation for the complete portfolio of the Marine Electrical Systems. The Project Engineer is responsible for the complete range of technical documentation for the WSAM scope of systems as well as other Wärtsilä entities towards the military customers (mainly German Navy).

 

As Project Engineer Technical Documentation your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Technical-logistic support of customers and delivery of contract commitments to customers 
  • Creation of specifications and quantity frameworks as well as the associated calculations in the preparation of quotations
  • Preparation of specifications for project-specific ILS and technical documentation
  • Independent editorial revision and creation of technical manuals
  • Planning, preparation and maintenance of S1000D technical manuals in close cooperation with the involved project and development departments
  • Selection, assignment and management of subcontractors for technical-logistic support as well as clarification of all technical aspects with the subcontractors
  • Conducting reviews and closing lectures to ensure factual accuracy of technical manuals
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines, costs and quality for the implementation of system manuals and other ILS activities
  • Preparation, carrying out, and follow-up of customer training which is state-of-the-art in methodology and didactics
     

As an ideal candidate, you should have the following:

 

  • BSc degree in Electrical Engineering or similar education
  • App. 2-3 years of relevant experience in technical documentation, preferably in the maritime industry
  • Profound experience in the field of Integrated Logistics Support
  • Knowledge of relevant ILS Standards, especially ASD S1000D
  • Basic experience with an XML-based authoring system to create technical documentation
  • Excellent technical German and English skills
  • Methodical didactic presentations skills
  • Experience with technical team leadership
