We are seeking an experienced

Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Manager (m/f/d)

to oversee and manage the logistics support activities during the development, installation, and testing phases of Navy military systems.

The preferred location for the position is in Hamburg, Germany.

What you will be doing

The ILS Manager will be responsible for managing processes such as spare parts requirements calculation, installation planning, and testing support, ensuring all activities align with Navy requirements.

Communication with the Navy (end-user) will occur through the applicable shipyard, and the ILS Manager will work closely with shipyard representatives to ensure seamless coordination and support for system installation and testing.

This role focuses on ensuring that logistics support considerations are integrated into the early lifecycle phases without directly executing technical tasks such as LSA or supply management.

As ILS Manager your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Manage ILS Planning and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement the Integrated Logistics Support plan, tailored to the development, installation, and testing phases of military systems for Navy applications.
    • Ensure all logistics activities are planned and executed in accordance with the Navy’s requirements, through coordination with the applicable shipyard.
  • Lifecycle Phase Management:
    • Lead the logistics support strategy during system development, installation, and testing, focusing on the successful integration of logistics activities into the early lifecycle phases.
    • Manage the transition from development to operational use, ensuring logistics support is in place for system installation and testing.
  • Oversight of Logistic Support Analysis (LSA):
    • Manage the LSA process, ensuring that technical teams conduct thorough analyses to support system maintainability and supportability objectives.
    • Review and validate LSA deliverables to ensure they meet project and Navy requirements.
  • Spares Requirements Calculation:
    • Oversee the process of calculating spare parts requirements, ensuring the technical and provisioning teams have the necessary data to make accurate calculations.
    • Review spare parts calculations with relevant teams to ensure alignment with the system's operational needs post-installation and testing.
  • Coordination of Installation and Testing Logistics:
    • Manage all logistics activities related to system installation and testing phases, ensuring that resources, personnel, and tools are available.
    • Work closely with the shipyard to coordinate logistics efforts, ensuring smooth communication and alignment with Navy requirements for the testing and installation phases.
  • Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) Oversight:
    • Ensure RAM objectives are integrated into logistics planning and support the system’s reliability and maintainability during the development and testing phases.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design and supportability factors are in place to meet RAM goals.
  • Configuration Management and Data Control:
    • Oversee configuration management and ensure technical documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects system changes during the development, installation, and testing phases.
    • Ensure that configuration and data management support future maintenance and logistics planning.
  • Stakeholder and Team Collaboration:
    • Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and shipyard representatives, ensuring effective communication of logistics requirements and deliverables.
    • Facilitate communications with the Navy (end-user) through the shipyard, ensuring logistics activities align with both project and Navy standards.
  • Project Management and Budget Control:
    • Develop and manage the ILS budget for the development, installation, and testing phases, ensuring that all logistics activities are executed within budget and timeline constraints.
    • Monitor project milestones, providing regular updates to management and shipyard contacts on logistics task progress.
  • Compliance and Standards Adherence:
    • Ensure all logistics support activities comply with Navy regulations, military standards, and industry best practices.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Navy and defense industry regulations to inform logistics support planning.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics support, project management, or defense systems, specifically focused on the development, installation, or testing phases.
    • Experience working with Navy systems and an understanding of shipyard procedures and Navy requirements are highly desirable.
    • Proven ability to oversee logistics processes such as LSA, spares calculation, and installation logistics.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) principles, particularly for development, installation, and testing phases.
    • Knowledge of spare parts calculation and provisioning processes.
    • Excellent communication and coordination skills, particularly when working through shipyards to facilitate communications with end-users (Navy).
    • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications in logistics, defense systems, or project management (e.g., PMP, CLTD, CSCP) are preferred.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Strategic and detail-oriented, able to manage complex logistics tasks and coordinate through shipyards.
    • Collaborative leader with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders and align logistics efforts with Navy and shipyard objectives.
    • Results-driven and proactive, capable of managing projects under tight deadlines and within budget constraints.
    • Adaptable and resilient, comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced defense environments.
