Position Summary

WV is seeking a Sales Engineer and subject matter expert in Marine Engineering within our dynamic and agile European sales team to support our Sales Managers with winning technological simulation business, achieving growth, customer satisfaction and success. A brilliant opportunity for an experienced Marine Engineer or Maritime Engineering professional with a passion for maritime simulation and training, and new technology, as the maritime industry transforms to a new blended online and in person approach to learning and professional development.

 

In this position you will be required to:

Sales through domain expertise:

  • Contribute to Order Intake achieved by Sales Managers / Sales Experts in the Marine Simulation, specifically our TechSim Marine Engineering Simulation product line in Europe.
  • In close cooperation with the Sales Managers / Sales Experts, create proposition/ quotations /response to tenders and support negotiations to close deals based on company strategy and management guidelines.
  • Support (potential) customer with (pre) tender requisition, using Wärtsilä Voyage specifications, managing potential customization and new developments.
  • To ensure a good chance of winning Tenders, the Sales Engineer scrutinizes RFI, RFQ, prepare Wärtsilä Voyage Project Bid documentation, costing, scope including advise on competitive landscape, support winning price, bid/ no bid decisions, etc.
  • Maintain a relationship with (with respective technical parties) at the (potential) customers

 

Expertise and Quotation Management:

  • Keep up to date with developments, standards, technologies, or any other relevant knowledge factor that is required to prepare state of the art and compliant quotations and responses related to our TechSim Marine Engineering Simulation product line.
  • Support the Sales Expert and Sales Manager in the Region in keeping existing customers up to date with new developments regarding the assigned domain, interacting with senior marine engineering personnel at shipping companies and in maritime training centers across the region.
  • Prepare and administrate (technical) quotations in the company’s ERP and CRM systems.
  • Support the hand-over process of orders.
  • Support and review technical queries from customers and help position potential solutions to the problem. Escalate within the organization when necessary.
  • Work closely in a (regional) sales team with Sales Coordinators and Sales Managers.

 

Reporting:

  • Strong CRM Management.
  • Timely reporting using the correct formats to keep the organisation informed.
  • Contributing to regional plans, budgets and promotion plans.

 

Product Support:

  • Provide market intelligence and product improvements to Product Management.
  • Supports Product Management/ R&D with product testing/ product review where applicable.
  • Support customer trials, field tests and POC’s with product expertise and positioning to the customer.

 

Key requirements:

  • Marine engineering experience across a wide variety of engine/propulsion types.
  • Previous marine engineer certificate of competence, preferably to First or Chief Engineer level.
  • Vocational Training in technical domain.
  • Higher Education (Master / Bachelor) in maritime technical domain.
  • Experience in the maritime sector or B2B sales.
  • Working knowledge of Office (essential), ERP and CRM (advantage) applications.
  • Willingness to travel (national and internationally), occasionally.
  • Ability to develop and prepare technical solutions and winning quotations.
  • Excellent analytical skills.

Preferred locations – Germany (Hamburg), Benelux (Rotterdam), UK (Portsmouth), Sweden (Gothenburg), Finland.
