For our Field Service Team in Electrical & Power Management Systems within the business unit Project Services we are now looking for an energetic, ambitious and enthusiastic


Service Engineer - Electrical (m/f/d)


to join our team in our Wärtsilä SAM Electronics office in Hamburg.


As Service Engineer- Electrical your work will focus on these responsibilities:


  • Carrying out Service work for the entire spectrum in the field of energy & electric drive systems as well as hybrid and battery systems
  • Testing and analysis of faults on devices and systems on site
  • Carrying out repairs and installations inclusive the necessary configuration/parameterization and order processing
  • Carrying out findings as well as support during commissioning (including accompanying sea trials, training ship's crews)
  • Preparing of service/installation reports as well as feedback on technical contents/changes to involved departments
  • Accompanying the acceptance of new plant generations in the test field
  • Assisting our Technical support as contact person for remote diagnosis and maintenance


As Service Engineer-Field your work will focus on these responsibilities:


  • Commissioning and Service regarding the whole spectrum on the area of energy generating, converting, distributing and electrical drives systems
  • System checks of complex equipment's/ constructions within ship building projects
  • Coordination and carrying out the bringing into service as well as the necessary adjustments according to the customer requirements and respectively to our warranty obligations
  • Accompanying the test drive and if necessary going with the ship as warranty engineer
  • Presentation and handing in of equipment's systems to the ship owner, shipyard and the classification societies
  • Carrying out repairs and installations inclusive the necessary configuration/parameterization and order processing


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 


  • A Masters or Bachelors degree in a relevant area ((Electrical Engineering or Ships Operational Technology), or equivalent
  • Relevant professional experience, especially in the fields of power generations plants, control and converter technology, medium-voltage systems
  • Knowledge in the field of customer service and ship operation
  • German and English language (written and spoken)
  • Structured and practical way of working with hands-on attitude
  • SPS skills are desirable
  • Willingness to travel frequently around the world
