Supplier Development Engineer

We are now looking for a 

 

Supplier Development Engineer (m/f/d)

 

to join our team working for a better future. 

 

The preferred location for the position is Hamburg, Germany but also could be Hørsholm, Denmark or Drammen, Norway.

 

What you will be doing 

 

You will be responsible to deal with the suppliers of several commodities belonging to the Purchasing Category Y52.

 

As Supplier Development Engineer you will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Identify, develop and execute Supplier Development actions for category team's scope of supply
  • Monitor and analyse supplier performance and give guidance accordingly
  • Take ownership and action on Quality, Delivery and Cost activities utilizing defined Supplier Development tools (e.g. supplier audit, WPAP, PQAP)
  • Actively participate in the Category action plan creation including decision making of supplier rationalization and change
  • Execute supplier audits and audit follow-up according to supplier audit plan
  • Develop and execute Supplier Development action plan for supplier improvements
  • Support suppliers with operational excellence / organizational growth / product improvement and development initiative
  • Assess and follow up the suppliers' quality management systems and Supplier Management System (VMS) rating
  • Point of contact for supplier with an escalated quality, delivery or technical problem
  • Participate in the development of Wärtsilä's tools and procedures for Supplier Development and in other assigned development projects.

 

The below will enable you to shine in this role:

 

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Engineering and/or Business or other relevant field.
  • Solid understanding of sourcing and supply management. Two years of experience in sourcing, technology or quality.
  • Process development and project management knowledge coupled with a strong focus on problem solving, quality, speed and cost
  • Solution oriented approach, capability to implement and persistency to follow-up activities to ensure sustainability
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing process and testing and/or other industrial manufacturing environment
  • Able to work in a distributed team and self-driven approach
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent command in English, both oral and written and good networking capacity, willingness to travel
  • Experience in working with Continuous Improvement Process tools regarding Quality, Delivery and Cost (Kaizen, 5S, 6 Sigma, TQM, etc.), knowledge of SD toolbox, SAP and Wärtsilä's reporting tool are seen as advantages
