Working Student / Intern - In-Situ Manufacturing, System Integration & Technical Documentation

Role overview
Support system integration of a new manufacturing test bench and the development and improvement of in-situ machining techniques within an Industry 4.0 R&D environment.
The role focuses on engineering support activities, including system integration, process development, testing, validation, and structured technical documentation, from concept to commissioning.
What you will do:
Process & Equipment Development
- Support development and refinement of in-situ machining and portable manufacturing processes.
- Assist in defining process sequences, setup concepts, alignment strategies, and tooling approaches.
- Support testing, validation, and benchmarking of in-situ machining concepts and equipment.
- Collect and analyse development and trial data (cycle times, tooling behaviour, deviations).
System Integration & Validation
- Support system integration of manufacturing equipment and test benches, including layout, interfaces, and process flow.
- Assist in defining and documenting system architecture and functional concepts.
- Support trial runs and commissioning activities, ensuring parameter tracking and result traceability.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and automation engineers during integration and validation activities.
Technical Documentation & Standardization
- Create and maintain development and engineering documentation, including SOPs, method statements, and work instructions.
- Develop and maintain setup, alignment, and measurement procedures, as well as system descriptions, functional specifications, and safety documentation.
- Maintain controlled documentation in SharePoint / Teams.
What you will need to be successful:
- Enrolled BSc/MSc student in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Mechatronics Engineering.
- Interest in manufacturing systems development and validation.
- CAD design knowledge (e.g. SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar)
- Programming skills python, C / C++, SQL, PLC languages.
- Basic knowledge of machining and metrology.
- Structured, safety-oriented working style with strong documentation discipline.
- Good English skills (German is a plus).
- Availability: 10–20 hours per week (Working Student) or full-time (Internship, by agreement)
