We are looking for a Field Service Engineer, E&A to join our team.  You will be part of a highly skilled and motivated team of Field Services professionals who are able to work under high pressure and with minimal supervision in combination with excellent mechanical knowledge about problem- solving skills. ​


The preferred locations for this positions are: Harvey LA, Houston TX or Fort Lauderdale FL.


As a Field Service Engineer E&A, your responsibilities for the role include: 


  • To perform MV/ HV/LV electrical maintenance and/or troubleshooting on Wärtsilä engine and CPP propulsion products
  • To perform Engine control and Propulsion control tuning and maintenance on OEM and Non-OEM products
  • To perform field service/ survey assistance as directed
  • To perform electrical commissioning on ships
  • Perform Field/ Workshop assignments as required for Wärtsilä products
  • Prepare Field Service & shop reports as needed
  • Take notes during shop & field jobs as needed to aid in report preparation
  • Use and maintain shop & field tools in accordance with good work practices
  • Prepare & submit parts requisition as required
  • Maintain current individual timesheets & expenses records to support the timely invoicing of jobs to customers
  • To maintain a professional appearance & conduct
  • To maintain the quality and efficiency of Electrical and Automation work performed (as measured by warranty costs), and in accordance with manufacturers specifications & ISO procedures
  • Accurate & timely care of Wärtsilä specialty tools (field & shop) used to perform service work
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with job performance and through positive interactions with customers
  • Comply with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
  • Conform to all safety riles and use all appropriate safety equipment
  • Perform other tasks as required


To be successful in this role, we expect you have: 


  • University degree in Marine Engineering or Electrical Engineering with three years’ experience working as a Field Electrical and Automation professional on marine diesel engines. or similar experience gained through working 
  • Experience in electro-pneumatic &/or electronic control systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) or equivalent combination of both education & five years’ Marine Diesel &/or Gas experience on Medium or High-Speed engines.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Good Customer relations and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Contribution as a team member and have a continuous improvement mindset
  • Knowledge of machine procedures and proceeds with all work assigned in a safe manner
  • Good command in English, both written and oral 
  • Knowledge of Local Labor laws and occupational health and safety regulations
  • Knowledge of the use of measuring tools (metric and standard) and specialty instruments
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel for jobs globally
