We are looking for a General Manager Technical Services Field Services and Workshops Central Europe with a main responsibility in handling of customer's technical inquiries in a comprehensive and supportive manner. The preferred location for this position is in Netherlands but also UK, or Germany are possible. 

 

Your role and responsibilities 

As a General Manager Technical Services Field Services and Workshops Central Europe you’ll be leading a team of dynamic and experienced technical experts with diverse expertise.  

 

What will you be doing:

  • Be responsible for handling of customer's technical inquiries in a comprehensive and supportive manner.
  • Support the development of the businesses and customers in the region technically.
  • Perform Audits and be active in capturing new sales opportunities (leads) 
  • Manage and solve complex technical and operating problems solving activities of the customers.
  • Make analysis with adequate conclusions and recommendations (reports) for how to solve complex technical problems of the customer. Report the related work progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate and propose improvement needs of the products and solutions for relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in product developments and product improvement projects.
  • Participate in development of new working methods with own responsibility area.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Analyses field experience and customer feedback data in order to improve the products and solutions as well as operation and maintenance of the installation.
  • Support in technical matters when new products or components are developed and launched.
  • Proactively work to enable cross-divisional and cross-organizational cooperation.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced technical experts and field service engineers. 
  • Participate in customer and/or internal meetings as a technical leader, when complex technical matters are handled.
  • Share technical knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure knowhow and professional competence development within respective technical expert area.
  • Lead and coach personnel within own team.
  • Contribute to creation of the action plan for relevant organisation and implement assigned actions.
  • Ensure that the business objectives and targets are met.
  • Monitor and report business performance in assigned team.
  • Ensure the development of the personnel within assigned team.
  • Ensure the implementation of the processes and tools according to business as well as Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or in Marine, Mechanical or other applicable technical degree
  • Minimum 10+ years of related experience
  • Relevant experiences of other Wartsila products.
  • Broad and strong knowledge and understanding of the marine engines and prolusion systems.
  • Advanced analytical skills in technical problem solving.
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and written
  • Strong Customer focus & service mind-set and Communication skills.
  • Strong Teamwork skills and drive for performance with positive attitude and ability to inspire others.
  • Experience in working in international environment and willingness to travel.
  • Motivated to learn and grow professionally.
