We are now looking for a  

 

Assembly Fitter

 

to join our team working for a better future.  The position is permanent and the preferred location for the position is in Havant, UK.

This role would suit someone with experience with hydraulics/industrial pipe fitting/ heavy mechanical assembly/ high pressure testing (air and water) / assembly and process test of composite and metal work assemblies 

 

As Assembly Fitter, your work will focus on these responsibilities:  

 

  • Assembly of heavy duty shaftline seals
    • Positioning, assembly and alignment of large multi-component seals using hand tools and lifting equipment 
    • Testing of large multi component assemblies – High pressure water and air
    • Ensuring all assemblies meet drawing specifications - Torque settings/alignment/test results
    • Support engineering in development assembly and testing
    • Cut/bond and assemble rubber components
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing engineering teams to resolve non-conforming product
  • Communicate with all ops teams to ensure proactive actions are taken to meet OTIF.
  • Continuous improvement relating to process assessment and review.
  • All duties carried out to be done in a safe manner following H&S safety procedures.
  • Support stores and packing teams in line with business demand.
  • Rubber parts to be cut/bonded to spec.
  • Work between Assembly/Rubber and Stores operations, driven by business demand/workload requirements. 
  • MAIN AND PRIMARY ROLE: Assembly/Rubber duties require the assembling and testing of seals to drawing specification, cut/bond rubber parts.
  • Communicate with all ops teams to ensure proactive actions are taken to meet OTIF.
  • Continuous improvement relating to process and procedures.
  • All duties carried out to be done in a safe manner following H&S safety procedures.

 

 To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:  

 

  • Experience/background of working in a production/engineering environment is essential.
  • Understand Health& Safety environment/procedures.
  • Mechanical/assembly aptitude.
  • Read and understand drawings is essential.
  • Stores experience desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Flexibility to work across Logistics Operations teams.
  • Clean driver's license essential.
  • Safety awareness.
  • Ideally educated to college standard or solid experience working in manufacturing industry.
  • Industry standard computer packages (Microsoft / MRP systems).

 

Desirable experience 

 

  • Good mechanical aptitude 
  • Understanding of Health& Safety environment/procedures.
  • Experience/background of working in a production or engineering environment
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering and assembly process disciplines
  • Strong experience of working to and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Woking with high pressure test machinery (air and water)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Clean driver's license essential.
