Design Engineer - Shaftline (Mechanical)

The Design Engineering team are looking to welcome an enthusiastic and resourceful Mechanical Design Engineer, to join our dynamic team in a permanent position located in Havant, UK.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work on all manner of vessels within the Naval & Commercial markets with a focus on military applications.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Support the design and technical specification, configuration and support activities for externally manufactured shaft line products and systems.
  • On-time delivery and correct quality of product documentation.
  • Provide support data for products and systems.
  • Supplier liaison.
  • Create/support calculation and analysis of shaft line equipment.
  • Support design validation and first of class testing of relevant products and systems.
  • Provide technical knowledge to purchasing processes.
  • Maintain compliance within all relevant data control requirements.
  • Developing own knowledge base of product specification, integration and support.
  • Developing own knowledge of internal tools, processes and systems.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • A proven technical background within Mechanical Engineering, ideally in marine shaft line design and analysis.
  • Effective communicator with both internal and external customers.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a structural and methodical approach to work tasks.
  • Fluency in the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of the Marine industry is desired.
