Design Engineer

We are now looking for a 

 

Design Engineer

 

to join our team working for a better future. 

 

The preferred location for the position is in Havant, UK.

 

What you will be doing 

 

As a Design Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Generate high quality design solutions for the quotation, supply and operation of WDSL seal, bearing and shaft line products within selected markets.
  • Produce manufacturing and purchasing technical specifications such as detailed drawings and itemised components list. Internally, we use Solid Edge CAD tool and are currently implementing Teamcenter PDM suite.
  • Create and update technical support information for WDSL product portfolio.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure on time delivery in line with project timescales.
  • Provide technical support to intercompany teams and end users on a national and internal basis.
  • Support the reduction of business operating costs through the prevention of errors and waste creation.
  • Ensure compliance is maintained with ISO, H&S and data control standards and regulatory requirements. 

 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have:

 

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A technical background within Mechanical Engineering preferably looking to progress to CEng status.
  • Demonstratable CAD skills.
  • Ability to eƯectively communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach to work tasks.
  • Fluency in the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Competency in the use of normal oƯice software such as MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ideally, knowledge of the marine industry is desired but not essential. Experience with marine propulsion systems and equipment would be extremely advantageous. 

 

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 20%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
