About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Team Leader to oversee the management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of site facilities and infrastructure. This role is critical in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness across all facilities-related activities.
You will lead an in-house facilities team while managing a network of suppliers and subcontractors to deliver best-in-class facilities services.
Key Responsibilities
As a Facilities Team Leader, you will:
- Lead the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programs to ensure maximum uptime of site machinery, plant, and infrastructure
- Oversee all facilities operations including maintenance, utilities, site services, cleaning, and security.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
- Develop, track, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for facilities performance.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure audit readiness at all times.
- Manage, coach, and develop the facilities team, including performance monitoring and succession planning.
- Oversee subcontractors and suppliers to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and value.
- Implement and manage safe systems of work (e.g., permits to work, risk assessments, method statements, inductions).
- Lead CAPEX projects and continuous improvement initiatives from business case development to delivery.
- Manage facilities budgets, including cost control, forecasting, and procurement processes.
- Raise and approve purchase orders and invoices in line with company procedures.
- Participate in safety committees and proactively address risks and compliance issues.
- Support and coordinate external audits (e.g., environmental, regulatory, landlord, third-party inspections).
Requirements:
Essential.
- Proven experience in facilities or maintenance management, ideally within manufacturing or warehousing environments.
- Demonstrated team leadership and people management experience.
- Strong background in managing subcontractors and service providers.
- Experience delivering CAPEX and continuous improvement projects.
- Solid understanding of statutory compliance and regulations (e.g., PUWER, LOLER, F-GAS, electrical regulations, legionella, fire safety, environmental controls).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Professional qualification in Facilities Management (e.g., IWFM) or related field
- Knowledge of Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations
- Health & Safety certification such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate
- Experience with SAP or similar systems
