Maintenance Engineer

We are now looking for a 

 

Maintenance Engineer

 

To join our team working for a better future. This position is permanent and the preferred location for the position is in Havant, UK.

 

What you will be doing 

 

This position requires attendance on a late shift pattern whilst still being able change working hours to assist with sickness and holidays as required.
Hands on operation of the facilities, infrastructure and assets of the WDSL business through effective employment of your own skills and a network of suppliers and subcontractors to ensure highest levels of availability are achievable in a safe, cost effective and world class manner.
Work in accordance with WDSL’s goals and targets, and legislative/ statutory requirements and coordinates activities to meet objectives set for the area of responsibility.  To undertake any activity deemed reasonable and appropriate for this position.

 

As Maintenance Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Proactively be involved in the safe and effective day to day maintenance activities at all Wartsila Defence Solutions 
  • Be responsible for the availability of all machinery, plant and infrastructure at Wartsila Defence  Solutions through a programme of Preventative Maintenance.
  • Responsible for maintaining, improving and reporting of an appropriate suite of industrial recognised ‘Key Performance Indicators’
  • Be actively involved with the quality and accuracy of all service and maintenance records including the Maintenance/Facilities SAP Modules.
  • Provide direct assistance in Electrical/Mechanical/Hydraulic and Pneumatic plant and machinery control breakdowns/faults.
  • Be actively involved with the network of subcontractors and suppliers and ensure value, safety and reliability is high. 
  • Day to Day communication with other departments. 
  • Assist in improvement projects to agreed scope, schedule and budget.
  • Help and support of all external audits relating to the business e.g. Emission and Discharge Permits, Environment Agency, Landlord and Local Authorities.

 

Accountabilities: 

 

  • Reponsible for helping to improve and maintain the availability of all Facilities, Plant and Production machinery at all WDSL sites through a programme of Preventative and Reactive Maintenance to maximise the availability of facilities, equipment and machinery to maximise productivity of the business.
  • To implement current HSE legislation including certification, monitoring and inspection in areas of responsibility.
  • To assist in the maintenance of the building security of all WDSL facilities.
  • To be actively involved with the delivery of projects relating to facilities to schedule, cost and agreed requirements.


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

 

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a maintenance / facilities management environment. 
  • Experienced in preventative (and reactive) maintenance of manual and CNC machining centres is a distinct advantage.
  • Hands on experience of Hydraulics /Pneumatics /Electrics /Mechanical is advantageous.
  • Experience of working on large projects. 
  • Proven team work and lone working experience. 
  • PC Literate (Microsoft). SAP experience is desirable.
  • Good level of education in Maths and Sciences (GCE, GCSE or equivalent).
  • Apprenticeship or equivalent in electrical/mechanical discipline.
  • HNC /HND level in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering disciplines a distinct advantage.
